Wow, great list! I didn’t even know there were many recipes that are vegan AND paleo. I’m definitely going to try some of these…especially the falafel!

  2. yay on April 26, 2015 at 1:35 pm

Are you kidding me? Shrimp(!) in the first recipe and later some fried egg… well, that’s not even vegetarian! Also loads of sugar in the cake recipe… well, not paleo. What is this list about? Just some random recipes, which are neither paleo nor vegan?

    • A4april on May 6, 2015 at 12:59 am

Thanks for stopping by! They are Pegan recipes.. a blend of the vegan and paleo diets (which does include some meat and eggs but omits grains, dairy, etc).

      • Dana on February 26, 2016 at 5:51 pm

Uh. Paleo also emits sugar, beans, corn, and soy….. These are neither paleo or vegan. If you aren’t and expert on either of these don’t post using descriptors you don’t understand.

Hello. This article was really remarkable, particularly because I was browsing for thoughts on this issue last Thursday.

  4. Jennie on June 5, 2015 at 7:28 pm

BTW Pegan does include some animal. I looked it up. I didnt think it was. But occasionally it is okay. But I wouldnt think cakes and sugar-sweetened desserts are a real part of the diet as it was meant to be used.

    • A4april on June 5, 2015 at 8:58 pm

Pegan does include animal products, but think of them as a condiment. Dessert and sweeteners are okay in moderation. I believe treating yourself is important in order to prevent food cravings… these desserts are fun because they use high quality ingredients while following the pegan diet guidelines.

I’m looking for recipes for my daughter, who is vegetarian and has ulcerative colitis. She can’t eat onions, garlic, or night shades. I appreciate all of these great recipes, however, Vegans don’t eat shrimp.

    • A4april on June 10, 2015 at 10:32 pm

Hi Dawn! Thank you for stopping by my blog.
You are correct. Vegans avoid all animal products. The Pegan diet is much more flexible, it combines the healthiest aspects of the paleo and vegan diets…. which means it does include animal products.

But take what you can from the recipes and modify by swaping fish for tofu, etc!

  6. Ciellle on November 12, 2015 at 10:16 pm

Some of these recipes look fantastic and truly healthy. I look forward to trying them. However, I must say, The Pegan diet is a low glycemic diet, according to Dr. Hyman who named the diet. That Carrot Cake. Wow! A cake that contains 10 cups of sugar as well as high glycemic grains is not Pegan, even if all the ingredients say gluten-free in front of them. Somehow some have come to equate gluten free with healthy. There is much more to health than avoiding gluten. Thanks for the roundup of recipes, though.

  7. Reenie on February 23, 2016 at 7:18 pm

Though these recipes may be delicious, they are certainly not Pegan (Paleo an Vegan) by any stretch of the imagination. A vegan diet does not contain any animal products whatsoever. So either Pegan is a misnomer or clearly “vegan” is misunderstood.
