Oven Dried Pears

Oven-dried pears are so delicious! A perfectly sweet and chewy snack.  This is a very simple recipe, you can really use any fruit that you have on-hand, apricots or mangoes work great.

I eat these dried pears at night to help curb my sweet tooth. They are great with roasted almonds and dark chocolate.

Dried fruit is so versatile, you can add it to Greek yogurt, home-made granola or fresh salads.   This was my first time making dried fruit, and I was very happy with the results!

 Oven-Dried Pears

  • 4 pears
  • 1 Tbsp honey

(I told you this was simple!

1. Preheat oven to 225 degrees F, with racks in upper and lower positions.  Slice the pears 1/4 inch thick. Take out the seeds as you go, I left the stems on since they look nice on the finished product. I find that the best way to slice pears without cutting yourself is to slice the bottom horizontally so that it sits flat on a surface.

2. Lay the fruit flat onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread the honey evenly over the pears and toss to coat. You can also use maple syrup or agave nectar to coat the fruit.

3. Cook until the pears are shriveled and chewy, rotating between from the top and bottom racks halfway through cooking. This takes about 2 hours. When ready, remove from oven and let cool completely. Dried fruit can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

4. Arrange on a platter and serve with almonds and dark chocolate or fresh fruit.
